Congress finally did away with SGR—the obsolete Medicare formula for paying physicians—in April. So the American College of Cardiology is bringing a revamped list of priorities to its legislative conference.
Doctors and other heart specialists will visit congressional offices with messages about creating a value-driven health care system, and ensuring patient access to cardiovascular care.
As Hill visits begin Tuesday, ACC plans to send a simultaneous message through social media to more than 100,000 people via the service Thunderclap.
Also this week: Members of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries will hold a "Rally for Retirement March on Capitol Hill" Tuesday. ASPPA, which is holding its annual conference at Gaylord National Resort at National Harbor, Md., will bus attendees to congressional meetings.
Also holding advocacy conferences or lobby days: Trial attorneys with the American Association for Justice, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association and IWLA—The Resource for Warehouse Logistics.
